AI-First: Our MCP Server Changes What’s Possible

The biggest announcement of the webinar was the launch of our MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, and the AI-first approach behind it.

Plenty of software companies are bolting AI onto the side of their product right now. We took a different path. Because we’ve spent years building a meticulously structured database and a robust, fully documented open API, we were able to make AI a native function of Contractors Cloud rather than a feature sitting on top of it. That foundation is why the assistant acts precisely instead of guessing.

A universal connector for the AI tool you already use. The MCP server links your Contractors Cloud data to whichever AI assistant you prefer — Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor. There’s no new app to learn and no separate interface to master. You bring your tool; we bring your data.

Ask in plain English. Compare this month’s expenses to last month’s. Find the jobs that have gone quiet and are rotting in your pipeline. Pull your production numbers and chart them. The questions you used to skip, because answering them meant an hour of exports and spreadsheet work, are now questions you just ask.

It doesn’t only answer. It acts. Create a task, send a Jet Stream, or set up a new project from a short description or a voice command. The assistant works inside your permissions, as you, with your access. Every action lands in the project activity feed just like any other update.

And it can run without you. Build scheduled, hands-off tools that work in the background, a weekly routine that finds stale estimates and automatically assigns them back to the right sales rep, for example. Set it once and let it run.

The way we framed it on the webinar: we didn’t remove clicks. We removed the ceiling. Your business intelligence is no longer limited by who on your team knows how to build it, only by what you think to ask.

Reporting, Rebuilt: From Data to Answers

Reporting has moved from a place you go to retrieve data to a place where you get answers, and, with report scheduling, a place you don’t have to go at all.

Custom Report Builder. Build a report from scratch around any of 27 entities — invoices, projects, expenses, appointments, materials, users, and more. Describe what you’re trying to learn and let AI help select the most relevant columns, start from a provided prompt, or build it column by column yourself. If you can describe it, you can build it.

KPI cards and column aggregations. Totals, averages, minimums, and maximums now appear as cards at the top of your report and as aggregations at the bottom. The math you were going to do in a spreadsheet is already done when the report loads.

Scheduled delivery. Set recipients and a cadence, daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly, and choose CSV or JSON file types. Your Monday pipeline report and your month-end financials show up on their own, whether or not anyone remembers to run them.

Built the way you read. Drag and drop to reorder columns. Add or remove them. Sort ascending or descending. Favorite the reports you run constantly so they sit at the top of your list. Then decide who sees each one, keep it private, share it with everyone, or target specific users and teams.

And everything you already relied on — duplicating reports, exporting, adding and removing columns, sorting — is still exactly where you left it.

The Notification Center: Never Miss a Beat

In contracting, timing is everything. A customer email that sits for a day, a task nobody saw, a Jet Stream reply that went unnoticed, those are the gaps where projects stall and margin leaks.

The new Notification Center, now live on both the desktop and mobile web apps, closes them.

• Real-time alerts for new project emails, new Jet Streams and replies, and task activity, assigned, updated, completed, or deleted
• One click to the source as every notification takes you straight to the project or record that needs you
• Complete control to mark individual items read or unread, delete alerts once you’ve acted, or clear the whole tray at once

Look for the bell in the upper right and the purple badge showing your unread notification count.

Jet Streams: From Messaging to a Communication Hub

Jet Streams got a major upgrade earlier this year, moving from a simple internal messaging tool to a real-time business communication hub, with one key difference from the Slacks and Teams of the world: it’s built around action, not just discussion.

• No refreshing. New messages and replies push to your screen the moment they’re sent.
• AI-generated topics. The subject line writes itself from your first message, so starting a thread takes one less step.
• Typing indicators and reply previews. See when a teammate is mid-response so you’re not talking over each other, and scan recent replies at a glance.
• Turn a conversation into work. Create and assign a task directly from a reply, without leaving the thread.

Discussion that ends in a decision is fine. Discussion that ends in an assigned task is better.
